On May 4, 2025, the Chandigarh-Mohali (Punjab) Chapter of the Breakthrough Science Society (BSS) conducted a “Learning Science Through Experiments” session at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, Punjab. The event was thoughtfully organized for the children of contractual, domestic help, and non-contractual workers in the institute.
The session focused on demonstrating key scientific principles through hands-on activities, interactive models, and games, with a special emphasis on Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. Children explored fundamental concepts such as Natural Selection and the idea of “Survival of the Fittest” through simple yet powerful experiments and visual demonstrations designed to spark curiosity and understanding.
Nearly 50 children enthusiastically participated in the event, participating in the games, asking questions, engaging with the demonstrations, and expressing their excitement about discovering how science explains the world around them. This initiative reflects BSS’s ongoing commitment to promoting science education and scientific temper in society.
